Overview of Department Services

The Surgery Services team works in conjunction with the Department of Anesthesia, Surgical Prep, Supply Chain, Clinical Surgery Support, Sterile Processing, and the Dept. of Surgery to provide a complete pre-operative assessment and plan of care for the day of surgery. The plan of care is evaluated on a continual basis based on patient's response and needs of the surgical team.

Staffing Model

Staffing is managed in accordance with the recommendations of the Association of Operating Room Nurses. A registered nurse circulator is provided for every procedure. The scrub role may be assumed by either an R.N. or Surgical Technologist. There is a designated Service Care Coordinator for each service with the exception of orthopedics which is covered by a patient care coordinator.
