Lactation Classes

We are proud to offer our patients lactation support through all stages of childbirth. Whether you have questions leading up to having your baby or need support after, our team is available to help in person and virtually.
Prenatal Support Services
University of Maryland Capital Region offers free lactation education to our soon-to-be parents and families.
Breastfeeding Basics Class
We provide a three-hour breastfeeding class from 6 pm - 9 pm on the third Tuesday of each month. We also offer a three-hour breastfeeding class on the second Saturday of each month from 10 am – 1 pm.
Breastfeeding Basics Virtual Mini Series
From laying the groundwork and getting on a good feeding schedule to understanding pumping, our virtual mini-series is full of information for new moms. These classes are offered every Wednesday virtually from 6:30 pm – 7 pm.

Post-Partum Support Services
After you've delivered your baby at University of Maryland Capital Region Health, you may have some questions or concerns. Our lactation department is still there to support you.
Breastfeeding Warmline
UM Capital Region Health offers a telephone Warmline 240-677-1293 seven days a week, 365 days a year. Breastfeeding related questions and advice are offered at no fee.
Post-Partum Support Group: "The Confidence Coalition"
The Confidence Coalition is here to help new parents talk, connect, and navigate the ups and down of parenthood. This group is completely free and virtual, so you're able to feel supported from the comforts of your home.
We have meetings every Thursday from 12 - 1 pm. Registration is required for all of our classes. Register today.
