Supporting Breastfeeding in our Community

UM Capital postpartum care includes new-mother health, education about breastfeeding, safe sleep positions for your baby and support for new mothers.

Your first postpartum appointment will be scheduled before you are discharged from the hospital to answer questions you may have about caring for your new baby.

Whether to breastfeed or bottle feed is a very personal decision for any new mom. We will present your options during your prenatal visits, and our lactation consultants and midwives are on hand after you deliver to help you learn how to breastfeed, if you choose to do so.

Postpartum Support Group

We offer a monthly postpartum support group to help new mothers:

  • Understand what postpartum conditions are and what resources are available
  • Connect and share with other new mothers
  • Learn how to recognize and manage new baby and mom stress
  • Recognize the difference between normal stress and postpartum depression
