The Lung Health Program at UM Capital Region Health (UM Capital) is designed to help people breathe easier. From prevention to management of everyday lung health issues, diagnosis of advanced lung diseases including cancer to treatment and rehabilitation, we are here to help you improve your quality of life, one breath at a time.
Our program is a partnership between the local Pulmonary Care specialists at UM Capital Region Health Medical Group and other community pulmonologists; the Interventional Pulmonology specialists from University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC); the highly trained thoracic surgeons who support both UMMC and UM Capital Region Health; and the registered respiratory therapists at UM Capital who help patients during and after their treatment.
This multidisciplinary team works together to provide the residents of Prince George's County the expertise and quality of lung health care they deserve. They also work with area oncologists and radiologists to diagnose and treat the most complex lung diseases.
Most services, including advanced diagnostics, are offered right here in Prince George's County, so you don't have to travel to get top-notch care.
Our specialists can help determine if your breathing problem is a result of seasonal allergies, a common condition like asthma or a more advanced condition such as COPD or lung cancer. Even the most serious lung conditions can be treated if they are caught early.
Some of the conditions we diagnose and treat include:
- Chronic cough
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- Interstitial lung disease
- Lung cancer
- Pulmonary hypertension
- Recurrent pleural effusions
- Sleep apnea
Don't let breathing troubles interfere with your quality of life. If you or a loved one is having trouble breathing, talk to your primary care provide or pulmonary care specialist. The sooner you seek care, the sooner you will be back to living your life.
