Daughter's CHD Care Inspires Mom to Create Support Group

Advanced fetal care treatment at the University of Maryland Medical Center Fetal Heart Program gave her daughter, Faith, a healthy future and encouraged Feren to reach out to other mothers in the same situation.

Early TGA Diagnosis Receives Immediate Care

Her son Lucas was diagnosed with transposition of the great arteries (TGA) before birth and received immediate care after being born, helping him thrive today.

Fetal Heart Team Treats Long Q-T Syndrome (LQTS) in Utero

A rare genetic disorder that caused severe abnormal heart rhythm in her baby gave Kaitlyn a scare in her fourth pregnancy.

Medication and continual pre- and post-natal care from UMMC's Fetal Heart Program put Kaitlyn's daughter on a healthy path.

Surgery for Truncus Arteriosus Saves Maddison Ames

maddison ames fetal heart Even before Maddison Ames was born, her health was in danger. Her mother, Rakita Ames, found out that her baby had a rare congenital heart defect called truncus arteriosus. Working with Dr. Shifa Turan prepared the family for Maddison's surgery just days after her birth.
