Center for Advanced Fetal Care

Our Center offers leading techniques of prenatal screening for low risk and high risk pregnancies.

Fetal Therapy

Our fetal therapy specialists run one of a handful of programs in the nation that offers expert diagnostic and therapeutic options for prenatal medical and surgical conditions.

Fetal Heart Program

This program consists of an experienced healthcare team that provides detailed evaluation, counseling and treatment for fetal heart conditions that may occur during pregnancy.

Prenatal Genetic Counseling Program

This program offers comprehensive genetic counseling for a variety of reasons. If a pregnancy is at an increased risk for a birth defect, a genetic disorder or a chromosome abnormality, the genetic counselors work with the CAFC team to help diagnose and manage the condition.

Complex Obstetric Surgery

Complex Obstetric Surgery focuses on managing all aspects of high-risk obstetric surgeries in maternal fetal medicine. The program ensures the identification of patients at risk and management of patients using a multidisciplinary team approach.

Critical Care Obstetrics

The University of Maryland Medical Center is also a leader in critical care obstetrics. At the hub of Maryland's Maternity Express Care system is our Perinatal Unit, which serves Shock Trauma and the entire University of Maryland network. If your baby is born prematurely or has special needs, our neonatal intensive care unit is Maryland's largest and provides your little one with the most advanced care available.

Telemedicine

Our high-risk obstetrics service assists expectant mothers with special concerns during pregnancy or who mothers who have a history of complicated pregnancy. Mothers-to-be are counseled regarding weight problems, high blood pressure, predisposing factors that could lead to early labor and other health issues that may affect pregnancy. This program brings our expertise to an area near you in the convenience of your provider's office.
