University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center offers a 7-week smoking cessation program to encourage and assist participants during their smoke-free journey. Sessions offer peer support and education from a certified American Lung Association Freedom From Smoking facilitator. All meetings are offered free of charge to adults who live or work in Anne Arundel County.

About the Program
Session topics include the barriers to smoking cessation, the health benefits of choosing a smoke-free lifestyle, nicotine-replacements, motivational exercises and stress management. Participants develop techniques for success leading up to quit week; there are two meetings this week for added support. Free nicotine patches, lozenges and gum are also available to those who participate in all of the classes.
