UM BWMC offers a wide range of childbirth classes and events for expecting parents. Some include the different birthing practices offered, parental education for first timers, breastfeeding workshops and more:
- One-Day or Two-Day Childbirth Education Class
Developed for busy expecting parents to empower them with evidence-based knowledge on labor and birth.
- Childbirth Express/Refresher Class
Ideal for families seeking a refresher course or for those who will be requesting anesthesia for pain relief.
- Cesarean Birth Preparation
Learn what to expect before, during and after a cesarean delivery.
- Comfort Techniques for Natural Birth
A class designed for parents to practice comfort techniques for non-pharmaceutical pain relief during labor.
- Essentials of Breastfeeding
Learn how to breastfeed with confidence.
- Lactation Support Group
Learn more about breastfeeding and connect with other supportive moms.
- Pumping: Making It Work
Perfect for breastfeeding moms returning to work, this class covers techniques and your legal rights to pumping breaks at work.
- Newborn Care Workshop with Infant CPR
A hands-on class to teach new parents and grandparents how to care for their babies using evidence-based practices. Includes CPR and choking rescue methods (no certification).
- Pascal Women’s Center Tour
Get acquainted with UM BWMC's facilities and services for growing families.
- Preparing for Twins (Or More!)
For parents in their second trimester who are expecting multiples. (Call 410-595-1794 to schedule.)
- Preparing to Be a Big Brother/Big Sister
Teaches big brothers and sisters ages 3 - 5 what to expect with the arrival of a new sibling.
