Diversity Council

The Pediatric Diversity Council at the University of Maryland is an inclusive workgroup of residents, faculty and departmental leadership with a shared goal of both increasing diversity & inclusivity within the medical field and supporting diverse learners within the department through a wide network of mentorship and professional development. Our members work closely with Diversity groups in the School of Medicine, the Medical Center and the University of Maryland campus to support ongoing initiatives.

The Diversity council is Co-Chaired by Dr. Paula Newton, a Pediatric Endocrinologist and leader of the Subspecialty Pathway, and Dr. Erin Giudice, the Pediatric Residency Program Director.
