Clinical Student Nursing Programs

Our nursing student program offerings include:

Practicum to Practice Program (P3)

UMMS offers nursing students a 1:1 senior practicum placement if they interview for and accept their first job as a clinical nurse on the practicum unit prior to the start of the practicum. Learn more about P3.

Collegiate Student Nurse

In our Collegiate Student Nurse Program, student nurses continue shaping the foundation of their careers in a supportive, collaborative environment through actual patient care duties under experienced nurses. Collegiate positions are posted as other jobs are and must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program with completion of one clinic course in acute care setting. Successful completion of Fundamentals of Nursing course or MEIMMS certification.

Nurse Residency Program

The Nurse Residency Program supports nurses in their transition from student to professional, building on their knowledge and skills.

This 12-month program supports recent nursing graduates and nurses transitioning to new clinical areas. Through a comprehensive orientation, the program offers continued education, clinical experiences and personalized mentoring by experienced healthcare professionals to enhance clinical competence and confidence.

Human Resources Tuition Reimbursement

Our nurses can receive up to $3,000 per year (for full-time programs) and $1,500 (for part-time programs) in tuition reimbursement. UM SRH Nurse Support Program

Annual scholarships for part- and full-time team members for the pursuit of RN, RN to BSN, BSN to MSN, NP, DNP and PhD degrees (amounts vary annually and are not guaranteed). UM Memorial Hospital Foundation Scholarships

For more information on these scholarship opportunities, go to the Scholarship Opportunities page in the Human Resources section of UM Shore’s intranet. Funding is available for:

  • Tuition reimbursement for regional RNs and allied health professionals, up to $3,000 per calendar year. Work commitment required. Contact: Mary Windsor, Memorial Hospital Foundation, 410-822-1000, ext. 5015.
  • Facilitation of student loan debt repayment for RN to BSN degrees. Must meet eligibility requirements and approval of Nurse Executive Committee.
