Nursing Jobs: Why Work at UM SRH
Nursing at University of Maryland Shore Regional Health (UM SRH) isn't just a job — it's an opportunity to make a difference every day in the lives of patients and families.
We facilitate your career growth, through education and other advancement opportunities, as you provide outstanding care alongside team members who are more like family than coworkers.
We receive various awards and other recognition, individually and as a team, for going above and beyond to give great care. But we collectively strive for the greatest reward — improved health outcomes in our communities. We raise the bar for nursing excellence in our endeavors to help fill gaps in care.

Professional Development and Career Path
We guide the professional development of our nurses from the time they are hired, providing a checklist of anticipated accomplishments and milestones as part of our Nursing Roadmap.
Our Professional Advancement Model is designed to reward nurses for their contributions to the advancement of nursing practice and patient care and provide professional growth opportunities. Nurses are encouraged to choose an area of focus in which they would like to advance, such as:
- Clinical practice and care delivery
- Professional development
- Service quality and safety
- Unit operations
Advancement requires nurses to meet defined criteria in their chosen focus area.
Under UM Shore Regional Health, UM Shore Medical Centers at Chestertown and Easton earned Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in 2019.
Achieved by few registered U.S. hospitals, Magnet recognition is the ultimate distinction for high quality nursing care. Magnet recognition is granted to those health care organizations that meet specific standards set forth by the ANCC. An organization must meet standards in quality patient care, nursing excellence and innovations in professional nursing practice.
To maintain Magnet status, organizations must re-apply for the designation every four years.
