At the Aiello Breast Center, an entire team of specialists collaborates to develop a personal treatment plan for each patient. A dedicated nurse navigator ushers each patient and his/her family through the entire treatment process-diagnosis through recovery-a practice that increases peace of mind while reducing stress.

Our breast cancer patients receive treatment at the Tate Cancer Center, also located on the UM BWMC campus. The Tate Cancer Center features an expert team of oncologists who work closely with the team at the Aiello Breast Center to develop a customized care plan for each patient.

Surgical Treatment

Under the leadership of medical director and renowned breast surgeon Cynthia Drogula, MD, the Aiello Breast Center is committed to providing technologically advanced, cutting edge procedures while using sound surgical principles to obtain safe, effective results.

Radiation Oncology Services

Radiation therapy aggressively attacks tumors while preserving healthy cells. The Aiello Breast Center, with its partner the Tate Cancer Center, offers advanced technology often not readily available in the community, along with an active clinical trials program through an affiliation with the University of Maryland’s Marlene and Steward Greenebaum Cancer Center.

Partial Breast Radiation

Partial breast radiation is beneficial in several ways. Rather than going through a seven-week course of radiation, treatments are provided over a five-day period. Additionally, rather than radiating the entire breast, the radiation is put directly where the tumor was, sparing the rest of the tissue from the radiation.

Chemotherapy

For patients requiring chemotherapy, the Tate Cancer Center provides the ultimate in expertise and comfort. Our medical oncologists work closely with other specialists to determine the best course of treatment for each patient.

Reconstructive Surgery

Plastic surgeons work with patients to alleviate anxiety and improve body image using advanced reconstructive techniques.

Survivorship Care

Patients with cancer who are treated at the Aiello Breast Center and the Tate Cancer Center are provided with comprehensive care through our Survivorship Clinic.
