Thank you for visiting our Department website and for your interest in learning about us! We are excited to share more information with you.

The Department of Psychiatry Residency Training Program is designed to provide the most comprehensive experience possible for our residents.

We pride ourselves in offering a balanced training program, which provides exposure to neuroscience, psychopharmacology, and psychotherapy. There are numerous opportunities to work and train with experts in the field that interest you. You also will have the opportunity to participate in electives with specialist centers abroad in major areas of psychiatry.

Our program is based at the University of Maryland Medical Center and the Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital. The training program is part of the historic "Maryland Plan," a collaboration between the State of Maryland and the University. The University of Maryland Medical Center is a private, nonprofit 750-bed academic medical center and a trauma center, also affiliated with the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Sheppard Pratt Hospital, one of the first private psychiatric hospitals in the United States, is ranked among the top ten psychiatric treatment systems nationally. Additionally, we have affiliations with many other area facilities to provide both residents and fellows with a diverse selection of training opportunities.

I look forward to meeting you!
