University of Maryland Infectious Diseases fellows working overseas

Elective time is used to pursue research projects or rotations of particular career interest at UMMC or other institutions. Listed below are some of the individualized electives that fellows have participated in recent years. Any ID-related elective opportunity will be considered if it coincides with the fellow's career goals and will provide a useful learning experience.

Some examples include clinical research at the IHV in clinical trials, translational projects, and Ciheb international projects (Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania, Haiti, etc.). Others have worked on projects with the CVD or Epidemiology Department (e.g. nosocomial infections).

Off site rotations include the Baltimore City STD and TB Clinics, Microbiology at the NIH, and International HIV/ID Treatment (Zambia).
