UMMC Midtown Campus Day Hospital
The University of Maryland Medical Center Midtown Campus Day Hospital consists of a partial hospitalization program that provides continuous, intensive therapy for patients who require an accelerated pace of care for their mental health issues.
The Day Hospital functions as a step-down unit for patients who have been discharged from the UMMC Midtown Campus inpatient behavioral health unit, helping ease their transition back to the community. Patients are also referred to the Day Hospital from the Emergency Department if they do not meet the requirements for the inpatient program and require a higher level of care than what is provided in the Carruthers Clinic.
Most patients complete their Day Hospital treatment in about two to five weeks before continuing care with conventional outpatient services, but patients stay in the program as their care plan requires.
Served by a dedicated team, the Day Hospital provides an individualized care plans that include:
- One-on-one sessions with a faculty-psychiatrist
- Group therapy sessions
- Medication management
- Case management
- Substance abuse services
- Breakfast and lunch provided
- Transportation to and from the Day Hospital for patients who do not have their own means of getting there
The Day Hospital is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 3 pm.
