Mother kisses newborn child

In partnership with the March of Dimes and supported by the UM Prince George's Hospital Center Foundation and the Prince George's Hospital Guild, the Mama & Baby Bus Unit serves as a healthcare access point for women and children in Prince George’s County, and provide basic, uncomplicated maternal and child health services to community members who otherwise do not receive general healthcare services.

A team of midwives, family medicine physicians, residents and medical assistants will provide care. In addition, patients will be connected to primary and Ob/GYN providers for continuous and consistent medical care.

The bus will provide a check-in and waiting area and two private exam rooms for women of childbearing age, pregnant women and infants and toddlers up to 24 months old.

Walk up services will include:

  • Well Women Exams and Education
  • Mammogram Referral
  • Pregnancy Testing
  • Pregnancy Care and Education
  • Infant Care and Well Child Exams
  • Maternal and Child Health Education
  • Care Coordination and Social Support Services

Maternal and child health counseling also will be offered as well as assistance with care coordination and social support services. At the completion of the visit, we will provide resources and links to office-based care and insurance (including Medicaid and other resources).
