Below are just some of our recent awards and recognitions.

AWARDS

August 2019: UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center was recognized as a Top Hospital in Maryland by U.S. News & World Report. The medical center was ranked High Performing in the categories of COPD Treatment, Heart Failure Treatment, Colon Cancer Surgery and Lung Cancer Surgery.

July 2019: UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s 2019 Get With The Guidelines® Target Stroke Honor Roll Elite Plus AHA Gold Plus Logo Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. The award recognizes the hospital’s commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence. UM BWMC earned the award by meeting specific quality achievement measures for the diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients at a set level for a designated period. These measures include evaluation of the proper use of medications and other stroke treatments aligned with the most up-to-date, evidence-based guidelines with the goal of speeding recovery and reducing death and disability for stroke patients.

July 2019: For the sixth consecutive year, UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center received the Mission: Lifeline® Gold Quality Achievement Award for implementing specific quality improvementMission Lifeline Cardiac Award 2019 measures outlined by the American Heart Association for the treatment of patients who suffer severe heart attacks. In order to receive the Gold award level, organizations must meet specific criteria for at least two consecutive calendar years. UM BWMC has received the Mission: Lifeline award since its inception in 2010 starting with a Bronze award from 2010 to 2012. UM BWMC received Silver in 2013 and Gold from 2014 to present. 

July 2018: UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center received the Honor Roll - Elite Award - from the American Heart Association's Target Stroke program. Hospitals who receive this award are recognized for a least a year of 75 percent or higher achievement of door-to-needle times within 60 minutes in applicable stroke patients in addition to current Silver or Gold Get With The Guidelines - Stroke recognition status. 

July 2018: UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center received the Mission: Lifeline® Gold Quality Achievement Award for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association for the treatment of patients who suffer severe heart attacks. In order to receive the Gold award level, organizations must meet specific criteria for at least two consecutive calendar years. UM BWMC has received the Mission: Lifeline award since its inception in 2010 starting with a Bronze award from 2010 to 2012. UM BWMC received Silver in 2013 and Gold from 2014 to present. 

July 2018: UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center received the Mission: Lifeline® NSTEMI Silver Quality Achievement Award for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association for the treatment of patients who suffer from severe heart attacks. UM BWMC earned the award by meeting specific criteria and standards of performance for the quick and appropriate treatment of NSTEMI patients by providing emergency procedures to reestablish blood flow to blocked arteries when needed. 

July 2018: UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s 2018 Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Silver Plus Quality Achievement Award. The award recognizes UM BWMC's commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients, and signifies that the medical center has reached an aggressive goal of treating these patients to standard levels of care as outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association clinical guidelines and recommendations.

June 2016: UM Baltimore Washington Medical Center received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. The award recognizes the hospital’s commitment and success in ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence. To receive the Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award, hospitals must achieve 85 percent or higher adherence to all Get With The Guidelines-Stroke achievement indicators for two or more consecutive 12-month periods and achieved 75 percent or higher compliance with five of eight Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Quality measures.
