Training Sites - Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship
The core clinical facilities for child and adolescent psychiatry include the University of Maryland Medical Center, the Sheppard Pratt Health System and the State Mental Hygiene Administration System (Spring Grove Hospital Center).
The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is situated in the heart of Baltimore in a revitalized neighborhood known as University Center. This 50-block area includes the University of Maryland Medical Center and the University of Maryland Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Law, Pharmacy and Social Work. The campus also houses the Baltimore Veterans Affairs Medical Center, which is attached to UMMC via a pedestrian bridge.
At the University of Maryland Medical Center campus, the Division has a 10 bed child inpatient unit, Child Day Hospital, Consultation/Liaison service, outpatient child and adolescent clinic (including a trauma specialty clinic), outpatient center for infant psychiatry, and a school mental health program based in Baltimore City public schools.
The Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital is a free-standing private, non-profit 322-bed psychiatric facility, is located in Towson, approximately fifteen miles from UMMC. On the Sheppard Pratt campus, training sites include an adolescent inpatient unit, inpatient neurodevelopmental unit, day hospital, and residential treatment center. Other sites include specialized schools and the Center for Eating Disorders.
Spring Grove Hospital Center is a 425-bed complex, under the governance of the Mental Health Administration, which provides a broad spectrum of inpatient psychiatric services to adults and adolescents. The Center is also the host site of the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center, a world-renowned research institution, that focuses on identifying the causes and cure for schizophrenia. Fellows have the opportunity to train on the Adolescent Unit, the first episode outpatient clinic and at the school program at RICA (Regional Institute for Children and Adolescents).
