Obstetrical Services

As members of an ancient and respected profession, midwives have provided advice and assistance in childbirth for centuries. Each year, nurse-midwives assist in more than 100,000 births in the United States. This tradition of personal care continues today at University of Maryland Medical Center.

We offer the services of midwives who have extensive teaching experience, practical expertise in labor and delivery and the skills to provide routine gynecological care to healthy women. All nurse-midwives at the University of Maryland have advanced degrees in nursing and are certified by The American College of Nurse-Midwives through a rigorous testing process.

Our midwives provide services for women in the areas of:

  • Preconception care
  • Prenatal care
  • Labor and birth
  • Postpartum care
  • Gynecological Services
