At University of Maryland Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, we provide resources to help a woman decide the optimal time for her to have a family.

What is infertility?

Infertility is when someone has not been able to get pregnancy spontaneously with regular intercourse after one year. This time frame may be shorter depending on a patient’s age or if she has irregular periods.

UMMC has many fertility options for individuals and couples. Our comprehensive team of specialists includes board-certified OB/GYN physicians, nurses, embryologists, psychologists and a reproductive endocrinologist. Our team provides a full range of procedures to assess and treat both male and female infertility.

For couples who are having trouble conceiving a child, medical treatments are available to help them achieve their dreams of becoming new parents.
