Alison G. Brown, BSN, MPH
President, University of Maryland Medical Center Midtown Campus
Alison Brown is president of UMMC's Midtown Campus, a teaching hospital serving the community for over 140 years and operated as a second campus of the University of Maryland Medical Center. In this role she leads hospital operations across an array of inpatient and outpatient specialty programs, assuring excellence in patient safety and quality, patient engagement, effective integration between UMMC’s Midtown and Downtown hospital campuses, clinical program development and community engagement that fulfills UMMC’s mission as an anchor institution serving the city and the region.
Prior to becoming President of UMMC Midtown, Ms. Brown served as UMMS' Senior Vice President & Chief Strategy Officer, leading system-wide marketing & brand strategy, corporate communications & media relations, community health and telemedicine programs.
Before joining University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) in 1992, Ms. Brown was a senior manager in KPMG's national management consulting health care strategy practice. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Vermont and a Master of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins University. Ms. Brown has served as adjunct faculty at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in the Department of Health Policy and Management. She was elected to membership in the Hopkins Chapter of the Delta Omega Honor Society in 2003.
She has served on the board of directors for the United Way of Central Maryland. She was inducted into the "Circle of Excellence" for being thrice named one of "Maryland's Top 100 Women" by The Daily Record. She is a member of the Executive Alliance, a Maryland organization fostering women in corporate leadership. In 2017, she was named one of Maryland's "Top 25 Women to Watch" by the Baltimore Sun.
