It is the goal of Shore Regional Health to ensure that all patients at every location receive efficient, effective, and compassionate care during their treatment.

Patients should bring the following information when registering for admission to or treatment at all Shore Regional Health hospitals and other facilities:

  • Insurance card
  • Medicare/Medicaid card
  • Referral forms from your physician (if required by your insurance carrier)
  • Worker's compensation information (if applicable)
  • Driver's license
  • Co-pay or deductible
  • Pre-admission form (if not previously submitted)

Certain forms authorizing treatment and the release of medical information to other providers are given to patients for their signature at the time of admission. Also, every admitted patient is required to wear a hospital-issue ID bracelet during the length of his or stay.

Where to Go for Admission

UM Shore Medical Center at Chestertown

  • General Admission: Patients should visit the Information Desk in the main lobby of the hospital, where specific instructions and directions will be provided by staff on duty.
  • Emergency Admission: The Emergency Department entrance is to the right of the main entrance to the hospital (if you are facing the hospital from Brown Street).

UM Shore Medical Center at Dorchester

  • General Admission: Patients should go through the main entrance and through the doors on the right marked "Surgery Registration," then turn left. The office will be on the right.
  • Emergency Admission: The Emergency Department entrance is accessible from the main drive on the right side of the hospital (if you are facing the hospital from Byrn Street), down the ramp to the lower level.

UM Shore Medical Center at Easton

  • General Admission: All patients are admitted in the Freeman Outpatient Center on the south side of the hospital next to the parking lot.
  • Emergency Admission: The Emergency Department entrance is on the south side of the hospital past the Freeman Outpatient Center entrance, accessible from either Washington Street or West Earle Avenue.

UM Emergency Center at Queenstown

  • The Emergency Center entrance on the side of the building is clearly visible from Shoreway Drive.

What to Bring

Our hospitals offer private and semi-private rooms, each with its own bathroom. Patients are advised to bring sleepwear, robes and slippers; however, jewelry, cash and valuable items should not be kept in patient rooms. Shore Regional Health cannot be responsible for personal items kept in patient rooms.

Advance Directive and MOLST

An Advance Directive puts your decisions for your medical in writing. A MOLST (Medical Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment) form has more detailed instructions on your orders for resuscitation and life-sustaining treatments. Learn more about Advance Directive and MOLST.

Telephone and Television Services

All patient rooms have telephone and television service at no cost, except the critical care units, which have television service only. Also, cell phone use is prohibited in the critical care units and limited in many other areas of Shore Regional Health facilities.

Food and Nutrition Services

Shore Regional Health is committed to providing fresh, nutritious and appetizing meals to hospital patients. Inpatient food service is available from 6 am – 6 pm daily. Each of the three hospitals has a cafeteria with limited hours and vending machines.
