You are finally here and about to embark on an exciting journey with UMMC Midtown! Our goal is to make sure you have the support and resources you need to be successful in your new role. As your first step, we invite you to explore the Patient Care Services webpage to help you get started and ready for your first day. Find guidance on everything from UMMC apparel to payroll.

Orientation Schedule

Patient Care Services orientation schedule covers the first week of orientation. Please forward any questions or concerns with scheduling to your clinical manager.

  • You will receive UMMS U log-in directions/information from HR.
    • You will need this to log-in to complete New Hire Hospital orientation on Monday and attend Patient Care Services Webex meeting on Tuesday.
    • If you are unable to log-in to UMMS U on Monday, it is important that you contact susan.raniere@umm.edu or ivory.cooper@umm.edu by noon on Monday for assistance.
  • You MUST attend all required training outlined on the Patient Care Services Orientation schedule (Webex meeting, Skills & EPIC).
  • Please be on time for all trainings.  
    • Failure to arrive/sign-in on time will result in an incomplete Patient Care Services Orientation status.  
    • Admittance to trainings will not be permitted after the scheduled start time.  
  • You will receive an email from the Portfolio Training team regarding your scheduled EPIC training.
  • Please wear scrubs for skills training on Friday. 
    • This training is ONLY required for RNs, LPNs, PCTs, & CNAs

Parking & Transportation

Midtown Campus has 2 paid parking facilities that are open 365 days a year to serve staff, patients and visitors. For additional information on staff parking please contact Cindy Brown or Wallace Green at 410-225-8046. The campus also offers complimentary shuttle service that runs a continuous loop from 5:45 am to 7:15 pm Monday through Friday between the UMMC Downtown and Midtown Campuses. We are also located within walking distance to the subway, light rail and bus systems.

Portfolio EPIC Information and Training

Portfolio Epic training provides newly hired clinical staff, transferring clinical staff, agency clinical staff, traveling clinical staff and other staff/team members with the knowledge needed to successfully navigate and utilize the Portfolio Epic system. Our training programs serve new hires, students and existing employees with online self-paced (SLT) courses and Instructor Led Training (ILT) sessions.

UMMS U

Welcome to UMMS U! UMMS U is a Learning Management System software application for the administration, documentation, tracking, reporting and delivery of educational courses or training programs.

Staff Scheduling

Patient Care Services staff utilize ANSOS a web scheduler to self-schedule, view your and coworkers existing schedule, and print current schedule.

UMMC Apparel

SCRUBS: If you are required to wear scrubs in your role, The University of Maryland Medical Center has partnered with Uniform Advantage. Please visit to the official UMMC Uniform Advantage website to order scrubs online through our approved vendor.

Employee Badge

Employee ID badges must be worn and visible above the waistline at all times while on campus. Located on first floor off the main hospital lobby, the badge office is open Monday through Friday 8-9am & 2:30-3:30pm. The first badge is provided to you at no cost, however the cost to replace ID badges is $25 (cash only).

Payroll

Medical Center employees are paid on a bi-weekly basis (once every two weeks). The "pay processing week" is the second week of the two-week pay period. Employees must clock into KRONOS (UMMC time and attendance system); any exceptions must have a Kronos Exception form to document the exception and appropriate leave allocation.

Employee Health

UMMC Midtown Campus strives to provide a safe, comfortable and functional environment for patients, physicians and staff following guidelines established by The Joint Commission, OSHA and other regulatory agencies. Employee Health supports this mission by assisting employees with compliance as well as their overall wellness. Located on the first floor of the main hospital near elevators 5 & 6. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7am – 4pm except holidays. Weekends, holidays and after hours, please go to the Emergency Department.
