Spinal Fusion

The first robot-assisted spinal fusion in Prince George's County was performed in 2023 by specialists at UM Capital Region Health. The availability of this procedure expands access to quality care to the residents of nearby communities.

During this advanced procedure, surgeons used a robot to identify the location of vertebrae in the spine before making an incision.

Surgeons were then able to perform the surgery with greater precision and accuracy.
