The Outpatient Infusion Center at University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center treats patients who need special injections, infusions like chemotherapy and biotherapy drugs, long-course IV antibiotic therapy, and transfusion of blood or platelets. The center also provides care and maintenance of central venous access devices like implanted infusion ports and PICC lines. The Infusion Center is staffed by nurses and patient care technicians who are specially trained in managing intravenous infusions.
Located on the first floor of the medical center in the west building, the center is open Monday through Sunday from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm by appointments only. Appointments are scheduled to allow for the length of time needed to administer the medication or blood.
The Outpatient Infusion Center works closely with a patient’s referring provider, oncologist and primary care physician, as well as the patient’s family and caregivers. Our team collaborates with other hospital departments including care management, laboratory and dietary to provide the best treatment course for each patient.
