Did you know, someone in the U.S. needs blood every two seconds? As a blood donor, you have the opportunity to save up to three lives from one hour-long donation. You'll also feel the instant gratification that comes with giving as it is the right thing to do.

UMMC holds blood drives for team members and community members twice a month. To schedule an appointment for an upcoming drive, see our schedule below. Encourage a friend or family member to donate with you!

To save up to 15 minutes of your overall donation time, complete a Rapid Pass the morning of your appointment. RapidPass allows donors to answer the Red Cross' health questionnaire prior to their appointment.

All UMMC employees receive 1,250 Positive Points, part of our new Reward and Recognition Program, for donating. Email Briana Mathis at briana.mathis@umm.edu with any questions.

New Donor Screening Question Related to the COVID Vaccine

The Red Cross is following FDA guidance for donors who have received the COVID-19 vaccination.

  • All donors – vaccinated and unvaccinated – should continue wearing a well-fitted medical facemask during your appointment.
  • If you have received your vaccine, please specify the manufacturer of your vaccine (Pfizer, Moderna, or J&J) during your screening. Donors are encouraged to bring a picture of their vaccine card to their appointment.
  • There is no deferral time for individuals who have received the COVID-19 vaccine or flu shot; however, all donors must be symptom-free and feeling well at the time of donation.
  • If you are experiencing any symptoms from the COVID-19 vaccine, the Red Cross recommends postponing your appointment until you are feeling better.
