UMMC - Midtown provides interpretation and translation services for patients and visitors whose primary language is not English or for those with limited hearing or vision. 

The UMMC - Midtown has free Interpreter services available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, utilizing our VRI (Video Remote Interpreter). Please let your doctor or nurse know if you require interpreting services. 

Language Interpretation/Translation

  • Access to Telephonic Interpretation with more than 170 languages
  • Language Line Service is available upon patient request

Hearing or Sight Impaired Interpretation

  • Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) is available for sign language interpretation
  • TTY (text telephone equipment) is available for hearing impaired
  • Certified sign language interpreter

When making a follow-up appointment, please inform staff that you will need interpreter services for your appointment. This will help us ensure the service is available when you need them.
