About Me

Rashmi Benda, MD, is a Radiation Oncologist and Medical Director of the Requard Radiation Center in the Cancer Center at University of Maryland Shore Regional Health (UM SRH), as well as an Associate Professor of the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UM SOM) Department of Radiation Oncology. Dr. Benda continues to advance the robust clinical program in the Requard Center, which offers state-of-the-art technology, including brachytherapy, stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS).

Dr. Benda is a general Radiation Oncologist with a special focus on breast, thoracic and gynecologic cancers. Her experience includes treating over 200 breast cancer patients per year. Her focus includes expanding radiation oncology clinical trials, research, and the UM Shore Regional Health multidisciplinary clinics around the region. Patients of the Requard Radiation Oncology Center have access to the combined treatment options available at our downtown Baltimore locations, the University of Maryland Medical Center and the Maryland Proton Treatment Center (MPTC).

Dr. Benda views radiation oncology as the perfect blend of technology and clinical care. She enjoys offering new technologies to her patients to better treat their individual cancer types, and helping reduce treatment time as well as toxicity effects. She believes it is important to treat the whole patient, tailoring treatments to their emotional and psychosocial needs to provide optimal cancer care outcomes.
