About Me

A hematologist-oncologist, Dr. Thein specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of blood disorders and cancers such as hemophilia, leukemia, lymphoma and sickle cell disease.

She believes the best care starts with building strong relationships with both patients and their families and understanding patients' specific needs. She provides comprehensive care to each patient, seeing them not as illnesses but as individuals.

Dr. Thein completed her fellowship in hematology and oncology at University of Maryland Medical Center. Prior to joining Tate Cancer Center at University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center in 2016, she was on the faculty at University of Maryland School of Medicine and a researcher at the National Institutes of Health.

She is a member of the American Board of Medical Oncology, the American Board of Hematology and the American Board of Internal Medicine.
