Glen Burnie, MD (July 27, 2021) – University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center (UM BWMC) was recognized in the 2021 U.S. News and World Report's "Best Hospitals" rankings as being among the best hospitals in the state.

UM BWMC was ranked #10 in the state of Maryland and #8 in the Baltimore Metro Area. The medical center was also recognized as "High Performing" in specific procedures: COPD, Colon Cancer Surgery, Diabetes, Heart Failure, Kidney Failure, Lung Cancer Surgery and Stroke.

UM BWMC was among three University of Maryland Medical System hospitals to be recognized. University of Maryland Medical Center and University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson were also ranked.
