Local Business Leaders and Residents Come Together to "Feed the Frontline" at UM BWMC

Glen Burnie, Md. (October 26, 2021) – A group of local residents and business leaders provided 2,151 hot meals to University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center (UM BWMC) employees on October 24 and 25 to thank them for their hard work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The "Feed the Frontline at UM BWMC" initiative was launched by Tony Toskov, a longtime hospital supporter, owner of Two Rivers Steak and Fish House in Pasadena and founder of Green Point Wellness in Linthicum and Laurel.

"UM BWMC employees are the backbone of our community's health and wellbeing," Toskov said. "We wanted to bring area businesses and residents together to show our appreciation for all that they do. We also hope to inspire other businesses throughout the state of Maryland to partner with local restaurants to help underwrite meals for healthcare workers."

Along with Toskov and his wife, Laura Toskov, the following local community members, businesses and organizations donated to the initiative, raising $25,000 to fund the meals.

  • Mitch and Annette Gunther and family, MBG Enterprises and MBG Refuse
  • Patrick Taylor, AGM Management
  • Kim and Frank Malle, Pasadena residents
  • Paul and Shonette Gable, Gable: A Visual Solutions Company
  • Tom Howell and Susan Warner, Tech USA
  • Michael Stanley Foundation

"This donation is incredibly meaningful to our entire hospital team," said Kathy McCollum, President and CEO of UM BWMC. "It shows the community is behind our frontline workers, supporting everyone from our environmental services and security employees to our nurses and doctors. We are thankful and fortunate to have such a dedicated group of business leaders and residents in our corner."

Donated hot meals included chicken marsala, baked ziti, side dishes, desserts and drinks and were distributed at UM BWMC to daytime and evening staff members.
