The Shock Trauma Outpatient Pavilion provides follow-up care to all trauma patients. This is not a walk-in clinic. To see when your team has clinic, call 410-328-3179 and selection option #2.
We do not accept walk-ins. Please call the triage nurse at 410-328-3179 (option #5) so that we can understand your needs and direct you to the appropriate resource.
What are signs and symptoms of infection?
Redness, temperature, swelling, fever, chills, thick yellow or green drainage, foul odor from wound, and/or increased pain in the area. If you are experiencing these symptoms, please call the triage line or go to your local emergency room.
What if I need a pain medication refill?
Pain medications may be requested by calling the triage line (410-328-3179, option #5). Narcotic prescriptions must be picked up in person or can be mailed. When picking up a medication, please bring a valid photo ID. Narcotics CAN NOT be called into a pharmacy. Please allow 1-2 business days for prescription refills. Do not wait until the last minute to request your medication.
I can't find my physical therapy prescription, what do I do?
Please call the triage nurse for a copy of your PT order to be faxed to your physical therapist. Please provide the fax number where you would like it sent.
How do I get to the Pavilion?
The best way to access the Shock Trauma Pavilion is to go to the entrance on Penn Street by Lombard Street. If you are traveling west on Lombard Street, you will turn right onto Penn Street. The entrance is on the right, near the ambulance bay.
What do I do once I get to the pavilion?
Please sign in and wait for your name to be called. Please have your co-pay, ID, and insurance card ready for when you are called to register.
How do I do pin care?
Mix ½ peroxide and ½ normal saline. Use Q-tips to clean around each pin site. Use one Q-tip per pin site.
How long do facial sutures stay in?
Usually facial sutures stay in anywhere from 5-7 days.
What are the symptoms of a concussion?
Headaches, dizziness, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, loss of concentration and memory, noise and light sensitivity. These symptoms are typical after having a concussion; however, if symptoms become worse or do not resolve, please make an appointment to see your team or go to the emergency department.
Why am I constipated?
Narcotics are often the cause of constipation. Narcotics slow down your bowel and make it more difficult to have a bowel movement. Often times patients are prescribed Colace (stool softener) and/or Senna (laxative). Be sure to have a healthy balanced diet that includes a lot of fiber. High fiber foods include fruit, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and legumes. If for some reason you begin to vomit after eating, develop pain or continue to not have a bowel movement, please call the triage nurse or go to your local ER.
I have papers that need to be filled out for my lawyer, work, Medicare/Medicaid, workers compensation, etc. Where can I get this done?
For medical forms, call 410-328-6758. Forms are not filled out during your clinic appointment. It usually takes about 10-12 business days for the forms to be filled out. The office is located in the basement of the trauma building.
I need copies of my medical records, where can I get them?
For medical records, call 410-328-5706. This office is located on the first floor near the Shock Trauma Registration desk.
I need copies of my CT, films, MRI, XRAYs, where can I get them?
The film library can be reached at 410-328-2590 and is located on the second floor of the north hospital (near the gift shop).
