At the UM Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center Bel Air, people with diabetes can get the help they need to successfully manage this disease.

From consultation to treatment, education and support, we bring together all aspects of your diabetes health care.

Our care team includes physicians specializing in diabetes and endocrine disease, nurses and dietitians who are also certified diabetes educators…and YOU. Your primary care physician is also an important member of the team as well as other specialists including the podiatrist, ophthalmologist, dentist and other health care providers you see.

Together, we help you take control of your diabetes and avoid complications.

Diabetes and Endocrinology Services

At the Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology, we treat adults with type 1, type 2 and other forms of diabetes, whether you are newly diagnosed or have been coping with it for years. We also identify and treat thyroid and metabolic disorders including hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid) and hyperthyroidism (an overactive thyroid) — conditions which can affect metabolism and cause fatigue, muscle weakness, feelings of restlessness, hair loss and more. Our program has been carefully designed to help you take charge of your own health and well-being. Through careful planning, monitoring and management, you'll enjoy a better quality of life.

Our specialized services include:

  • Onsite HbA1c testing
  • Complication screening, prevention and treatment
  • Medication management
  • Insulin pump and continuous glucose sensor management
  • Weight management and nutritional counseling
  • TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) - a simple blood test to assess thyroid status

Services at our Center are comprehensive yet flexible enough so you can make choices that best suit your lifestyle.
