The emergency department at UM Shore Medical Center at Easton provides 24/7 care for severe, life- and limb-threatening conditions. The entrance is on the south side of the hospital past the Freeman Outpatient Center entrance, accessible from either Washington Street or West Earle Avenue.

We are designated as a Primary Stroke Center by the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS), meaning our stroke care is coordinated according to the highest standards. We are also designated by MIEMSS as a Cardiac Interventional Center (CIC). We have a 24/7 lab where we perform treatment and testing (such as angioplasty) for heart conditions, including emergencies like heart attack. We also provide 24/7 emergency obstetrical care, including for childbirth.

We see patients of all ages. Pediatric patients needing a higher level of care may be transferred to another facility. For patients who are experiencing a mental health crisis or who have been sexually assaulted, we can provide evaluations and referrals in addition to medical and psychiatric care.

What to Expect at the ER: Our priority is to treat each person in our emergency rooms as fully, safely and quickly as possible. We see patients based on how serious their conditions are. Patients are not seen on a first-come, first-served basis. Learn more about what to expect at the ER.
