The University of Maryland Medical System, one of Maryland's largest private employers with nearly 28,000 team members working across the state, has been recognized on the Forbes list of America's Best-In-State Employers 2024. This prestigious award is presented by Forbes and Statista Inc., the leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider.

 

County councils in Caroline, Dorchester, Kent and Queen Anne’s recently presented proclamations to University of Maryland Shore Regional Health’s (UM SRH) Stroke Committee. These proclamations designated these counties as “Stroke Smart” counties. Talbot County issued a proclamation in May 2024. UM SRH is a member organization of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS).

Aaron “Zack” Royston, MAS, MS, FACHE, has joined University of Maryland Shore Regional Health (UM SRH) as Vice President of Rural Health Care Transformation and Executive Director of UM Shore Medical Center at Chestertown. UM SRH is a member organization of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS).

Danielle Wilson, MSN, RN, NE-BC, has been appointed Chief Nursing Officer and Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services for University of Maryland Shore Regional Health (UM SRH), effective August 1, 2024. Wilson most recently served in this position on an interim basis, while continuing her responsibilities as Director of Patient Care Services, the position she had held since 2022. UM SRH is a member organization of the University of Maryland Medical System.

St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Easton, Maryland has committed $1 million dollars to University of Maryland Shore Regional Health (UM SRH) to advance healthcare on the Mid-Shore through construction of the new UM Shore Regional Medical Center. 

After more than a decade with UM Shore Regional Health (UM SRH), William Huffner, MD, MBA, FACEP, FACHE, who served during this time as Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs, retired at the end of June. His time with UM SRH was marked by many changes for the hospital system, including the integration of two hospitals and medical staffs, growing the provider network now known as University of Maryland Shore Medical Group, opening two medical pavilions and a freestanding emergency center, and leading the health care network through one of the most challenging times in a century, the COVID-19 pandemic.

University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center announced that it has published its updated Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA). The updated assessment includes data gathered from July 2023 to February 2024 by UM Charles Regional and its partners in the study, the Charles County Department of Health and Partnerships for a Healthier Charles County.
