Dozens of Shock Trauma team members, trauma survivors and supporters traveled to the state capital Thursday to support Maryland Governor Wes Moore, Senate President Bill Ferguson and House Speaker Adrienne Jones as they signed a consequential bill into law expanding annual funding for Maryland’s renowned statewide trauma system, ensuring access to world-class trauma care for Marylanders well into to the future.

The University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) is soaring to new heights with the placement of its name and System logo atop a landmark downtown 25-story building at 250 West Pratt Street, the former “Pandora” building. Standing at an impressive 23 feet tall and 48 feet wide, the sign reflects UMMS as an anchor institution in Baltimore and its status as Maryland's largest health system.

Stephanie Saffran, BSN, RN, clinical nurse in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at University of Maryland Shore Regional Health (UM SRH), has been named SRH’s Nurse of the Year. Saffran was chosen by an independent panel of judges from over 70 nominations made by team members. The annual award recognizes nursing excellence achieved through leadership, professionalism, commitment to others and commitment to patient experience.

UM Shore Regional Health’s (UM SRH) Heart and Vascular Center team recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of the reaccreditation of the Cardiac Intervention Center (CIC) at UM Shore Medical Center at Easton. The gathering acknowledged the team and celebrated their hard work in securing the first re-accreditation of the Center. UM SRH is a member organization of the University of Maryland Medical System.
