The University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) has launched NEST (Neonatal Outcomes impacted by Escalation Safety Telemetry), a groundbreaking remote fetal monitoring center that offers continuous, real-time monitoring of critical elements of labor and delivery across System hospitals. NEST is led by a medical director and team of highly specialized nurses who bring more than 200 years of combined experience in safely delivering thousands of babies.

Weather Alert: Outpatient Practice Closures or Telehealth-Only Operations

Due to the inclement weather, certain outpatient and primary care practices will have a delayed opening while some will remain closed on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. The University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center’s hospital is fully open – including its Emergency Department and Labor and Delivery unit – with operations continuing per normal and unaffected by the storm. We remain open and ready to care for our community.

Fast forward to today, and the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) is a thriving network reaching urban, suburban and rural communities across the state, providing 25 percent of all hospital-based care in Maryland.

The University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center (UM BWMC), a member organization of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), has aligned its new heart and lung care practices on the third floor of the hospital’s Outpatient Care Center. The move physically brings together the two closely related care practices to enhance existing collaboration and offer more comprehensive cardiopulmonary care to patients.
