Joint Replacement Class
To guide and assist you through your surgical experience, the orthopaedic team at University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center provides a total joint replacement class. The purpose of the program is to present to you and your care partner an in-depth explanation of all aspects of your surgery, hospital stay, and safe discharge planning.
Topics covered in this program include, but are not limited to:
- Admissions/Discharge Process
- Surgical Procedures
- Hospital Routine
- Equipment Needs
- Pain Management
- Physical Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Rapid Recovery Program
- Hospital Stay
- Spiritual Care
We encourage you and your care partner to attend one of these classes to prior to your joint replacement surgery.
The last class of November will be held on Wednesday, November 20 from 1 - 3 p.m. in the Noppenberger Auditorium. This is the last class that will not require registration.
Classes will be moving to The Cancer Institute conference room on the third floor. The class will be offered on the following days:
- First Thursday of the month, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
- Second Wednesday of the month, 6 - 8 p.m.
- Third Monday of the month, 1 - 3 p.m.
- Fourth Monday of the month, 1 - 3 p.m.
Inclement Weather: If Baltimore County Schools are closed, the class is cancelled. If your class is cancelled due to inclement weather, you will need to register for another class.
Classes will not be held on federal holidays.
