In-Person Joint Replacement Class
To guide and assist you through your surgical experience, the orthopedic team at University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center provides a total joint replacement class that can be completed online and/or in-person.
It's recommended that you attend the in-person class or watch the online videos 30 days before your surgery, if possible. You are encouraged to use the videos and materials as a tool during all steps of your surgical journey.
The purpose of the program is to present to you and your care partner an in-depth explanation of all aspects of your surgery, hospital stay (if applicable), and safe discharge planning.
Topics covered in this program include, but are not limited to:
- Admissions/Discharge Process
- Surgical Procedures
- Hospital Routine
- Equipment Needs
- Pain Management
- Physical Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
