Martha Francis, PhD, CRNP

Martha E. Francis is a registered nurse practitioner who specializes in radiation oncology, which involves the use of radiation to treat cancer. Her delivery of care focuses on the needs of not just the patient but the entire family. Her ultimate goal is to impart meaningful change in how cancer care is delivered to help families live well during treatment.

Francis has been a radiation oncology nurse practitioner at University of Maryland Medical Center since 2006. A London, Canada, native, she immigrated to the United States, shortly after completing her undergraduate nursing education in her home country to begin her nursing career in oncology (diagnosis and treatment of cancer). Her nursing PhD dissertation focused on communication and palliative care for couples living with advanced cancer.

Francis' clinical and research interests are in palliative and end-of-life care.
