Dr. Malek graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 2003. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Emory University in 2006 and obtained her fellowship at the National Institutes of Health in 2009. She is board certified in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism. She is the program director for the Endocrinology and Diabetes Fellowship at the University of Maryland.
Dr. Malek sees patients at the University of Maryland Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology.
Dr. Malek has extensive experience managing patients with both type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. She works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to improve the care of all her patients with diabetes. She uses continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps to improvement management of patients with diabetes. She has both clinical and research experience managing patients with extreme insulin resistance.
In her endocrine practice, Dr. Malek has an interest in metabolic health with a focus on pre-diabetes, gestational diabetes, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and congenital adrenal hyperplasia.
