In our ongoing effort to improve the level of patient care, as well as staff satisfaction, UM Charles Regional Medical Center utilizes individual unit councils as a part of our hospital-wide performance improvement plan.

Each unit council continually encourages staff to guide the hospital towards the highest level of nursing practice. Unit councils engage the frontline nursing staff by placing members where they can make the biggest impact for a “culture of change”.

Through the unit councils, clinical nursing staff and support staff share decision making in clinical unit operations, clinical practice, quality and patient safety.
