Karen Bonsack, PT
Karen, a native of Harford County, joined UM Upper Chesapeake Health’s sports medicine team in 2020. She graduated from Lynchburg College in Virginia with a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences (Biology/Psychology) in 1981. She went on to earn her physical therapy degree from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in 1985. Karen is committed to providing personalized, quality hands-on physical therapy to patients of all ages. She specializes in using manual techniques as well as functional exercises and therapeutic activities to return patients to an optimal level of function. Her clinical experience lies in orthopedics, sports rehabilitation and geriatrics with special interests in treating the spine, shoulder, knee and complex cases. Karen has attended numerous continuing education courses to further her knowledge on orthopedic pathologies, joint mobilizations, myofascial work, the integration of Tai Chi and caring for the aging population. Before coming to UM Upper Chesapeake Health, Karen was in private practice in Aberdeen for over 30 years and has extensive experience in all aspects of patient care. In her free time Karen enjoys being on the water on her Hydrobike, kayak or boat and usually has at least one home project that she is working on.
