Our Pediatric Critical Care Division includes the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU), a 19-bed facility that provides state-of-the-art multidisciplinary critical care for young patients with life-threatening medical, cardiac and surgical conditions. The unit is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by a team led by board-certified pediatric intensivists.

Our dedicated ICU team—including attending faculty, fellows, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, critical care nurses, critical care respiratory therapists, pharmacists, clinical nutritionists, social workers, case managers and child life specialists—are leaders in quality, safety, performance improvement and family-centered care. In addition, the University of Maryland Children's Hospital is continually recognized as a Best Children's Hospital for cardiology and heart surgery by U.S. News & World Report.
