Mother-Baby Unit at UM St. Joseph
Located on the third floor of UM St. Joseph Medical Center, the Mother-Baby Unit is where our new moms and babies (along with their partners and families) begin the bonding process. Learn more about Pregnancy and Childbirth at UM St. Joseph.
Typically our visiting policy has been that new mothers may choose one adult visitor for 24-hour-a-day visiting access. And siblings may also visit; however, non-sibling children must be at least 12 years old.
Due to COVID-19, our current visitor restrictions limits the number of visitors and those under the age of 18.
Other guidelines to keep in mind:
- All visitors to Labor, Delivery and Recovery and the Mother/Baby unit must have a visitor badge. A valid photo ID is required.
- Because it is important for new mothers to rest, visiting hours are from 12-8:30 pm. Partners have visiting access 24/7.
- A visitor may not enter the patient care unit if he or she has a cold, cough, chicken pox, fever or evidence of infection.
Due to COVID-19, there are no scheduled tours at this time. Please see the video below for a virtual tour of our Labor & Delivery rooms.
If you are interested in an onsite tour, as allowable, or are interested in more information, please contact Childbirth Education at 410-337-1880 or email SJMChildbirthEd@gmail.com.
Parking is available on the lot adjacent to the main hospital or in the parking garage.
The Hackerman-Patz House provides an affordable, home-like setting for families for whom daily travel to and from home to the hospital is a hardship.
