About Me
A stroke neurologist, Dr. Seemant Chaturvedi focuses on stroke prevention and treatment and maintenance of brain health. He has special clinical interests in:
- Atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat)
- Carotid stenosis (condition that restricts blood flow to the brain)
- Intracranial stenosis (severe narrowing of a brain artery, which can cause a stroke)
- Ischemic stroke
- Transient ischemic attack (temporary blockage of blood flow to the brain, or ministroke)
The satisfaction of treating patients while also trying to address important public health goals is what motivated Dr. Chaturvedi to pursue a career in medicine. Among the awards he has won are the 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association of Indian Neurologists in America (presented by the American Brain Foundation) and the Stewart J. Greenebaum Endowed Professorship (2019) from University of Maryland School of Medicine.
