Dr. Rebecca Brown is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She specializes in colon and rectal surgery. As an undergraduate, Dr. Brown attended the University of New Mexico, completing a BS in Biology with a Spanish minor. She then went on to medical school at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine.

Dr. Brown completed a General Surgery Residency at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. She went on to complete a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at St. Joseph’s Mercy Ann Arbor.

Dr. Brown specializes in minimally invasive approaches (laparoscopic and robotic), colon and rectal surgery, surgical treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, sphincter-sparing surgery for colorectal cancer, surgery for anorectal disorders, sacral nerve stimulator for fecal incontinence, laparoscopic treatment of diverticulitis, treatment of rectal prolapse and screening and therapeutic colonoscopy.

Her professional affiliations include the American College of Surgeons, Association for Academic Surgery, Association of Women in Surgery, Association for Surgical Education and American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. She is board certified with the American Board of Surgery.
