About Me

A neurologist, Dr. Savitt provides comprehensive care for patients dealing with chronic neurodegenerative diseases, focusing on personalized care and new therapies. He has an interest in genetic movement disorders, especially cerebellar ataxia, seeing many patients with this rare condition.

A large part of Dr. Savitt's practice involves botulinum toxin injection, focused ultrasound and deep brain stimulation therapies. While attending University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM), he researched the visual system. In 2016, after a stint at a specialty movement disorders practice, he joined the UMSOM faculty as a member of the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Center, where he provides care for various movement disorders and cognitive disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease. In 2023, he became a neurodegenerative attending physician at Baltimore VA Medical Center, where he treats veterans with movement, cognitive and headache disorders.

In addition to treating them, Dr. Savitt enjoys teaching about and researching neurodegenerative diseases, which he describes as "one of the most disabling and under-researched groups of ailments facing humanity."

  • I was very very happy with Dr. Savitt and his PA. They were very thorough, answered all my questions and my husband and daughter. They had a great sense of humor (which I like). And took a lot of time with me to understand what was going on with my problems.

  • Doctor Savitt is outstanding. His knowledge of my disease SCA three. And the helpful suggestions That he made in my treatment or else It has been three years helping then to maintain a positive positive attitude

  • Dr Savitt is spectacular. UMMS is lucky to have this guy. Because of a rare condition, I've met the full spectrum of doctors, and Dr Savitt is among the best of the best. He has a curious mind, he's a good listener, he's very thorough, and most importantly: he took me seriously and respectfully. And he seems very knowledgeable in his sub-specialty. If anyone has a freakish-mutant problem involving involuntary movements, I highly recommend Savitt!

  • The doctors were most excellent

  • I do not mind if Dr Saviitt runs late. He never rushes the time he spends answering my questions. If I have to wait while he spends quality time with another patient than I am happy to wait. Quality time with a caring doc is rare and should be encouraged for all patients.
