Elizabeth Adrianne Duque Hammershaimb, MD

Dr. Hammershaimb is a pediatric infectious diseases specialist. She takes a whole-person approach to diagnosing and treating infectious diseases.

"I educate families and patients to protect themselves when possible, use antibiotics and other medications in a judicious manner to prevent superbugs, and recommend resources to patients and families coping with the effects of infection," she says. "Many families are relieved when an infection has been fully treated and grateful to learn about ways to prevent infections in the future."

Dr. Hammershaimb performs evaluations of infection risk in immunocompromised patients. She treats conditions including:

• Antimicrobial stewardship
• Bone and joint infections
• Complicated pneumonia
• Prolonged fevers
• Recurrent infections
• Tickborne infections
• Tuberculosis

In her free time, Dr. Hammershaimb enjoys traveling and eating foods from all over the world. She likes visiting relatives in Denmark and the Philippines and out West. She also likes going to national parks and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage sites. In addition, she enjoys crafting and event planning.
