UM Charles Regional Medical Center Birthing Center
Located inside UM Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata, the Birthing Center and obstetrics department is on the first floor.
Parking is available onsite. Enter through the Emergency Department to be registered before proceeding to the Birthing Center.
Giving Birth at UM Charles Regional
The childbirth experience at UM Charles Regional reflects the same high-quality pregnancy care that you receive from our team of OBGYN specialists in their offices in La Plata and Waldorf.
Renovated in 2019, our Birthing Center has private rooms with a television, WiFi, a private bathroom with a shower and controls that adjust lighting to a variety of brightness levels and colors.
Birthing Center Visitors
While in the Labor and Delivery Unit, you may have one visitor throughout your stay with us.
Your partner may stay with you throughout your time here. However, due to our COVID-related visitor restrictions other visitors may be restricted.
Maternity Tours
Due to COVID-19, our maternity tours are on hold. In the meantime, watch the virtual tour of our Birthing Center and Mother-Baby Unit to see what you can expect when your child is delivered at UM Charles Regional Medical Center.
When we are able to welcome you back to take a tour of our Birthing Center, you will meet our highly-trained staff, see our delivery and postpartum rooms and have the opportunity to ask questions about the upcoming birth of your baby.
The tour is limited to you and one guest. Children are not permitted on the maternity tour. Guests are encouraged to arrive early, and tours will begin promptly at the scheduled time. If you're unable to be there by the announced start time, we will be happy to reschedule your tour for a later date.
