Washington, D.C., July 30, 2019  –  University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center has been recognized as a Best Hospital for 2019-20 by U.S. News & World Report. For the second year in a row, U.S. News named the medical center #3 in both the state and the Baltimore Metro area, making UM St. Joseph the highest-ranking community hospital in Maryland.

The annual Best Hospitals rankings and ratings, now in their 30th year, are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or for common elective procedures. UM St. Joseph Medical Center was awarded a rating of “High Performing” in these categories: Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Aortic Valve Surgery, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Colon Cancer Surgery, Heart Bypass Surgery, Heart Failure, Hip Replacement, Knee Replacement and Lung Cancer Surgery.

UM St. Joseph was one of only 57 hospitals in the nation and the only hospital in Maryland to receive this rating in all nine categories.
