Respiratory Care
The Respiratory Care Department monitors and delivers critical care and
general respiratory care services to patients in all age groups on
inpatient and outpatient bases in addition to coordinating a comprehensive
interdisciplinary pulmonary rehabilitation program featuring education and
exercise for patients with Chronic lung disease. The department monitors
and maintains ventilators in the adult and neonatal critical care areas and
manages appropriate supplies, medications and medical gases. Services are
provided according to physicians' orders and-or by protocols approved by
the Medical Staff. Delivery includes the provision of equipment, supplies
and medications, patient assessment, the provision of therapy,
documentation and communication as appropriate with other caregivers.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
- Intubation-Emergency Airway Care
- Patient Assessment
- Set up, Selection, Maintenance and Weaning of Oxygen, Humidification and Aerosol Delivery Devices (i.e. nasal cannulas, face masks, trach collars, etc.)
- Monitoring, Management and Weaning of Patients on Continuous Mechanical Ventilation
- Monitoring of CPAP and BIPAP Devices
- Medication Delivery via Handheld Nebulizers
- IBBP, PEP Therapy, Flutter therapy
- Chest Physical Therapy (percussion and postural drainage)
- Incentive Spirometry
- Deep Tracheal Suctioning
- Arterial Blood Gas Procurement
- Pulse Oximetry
- Patient Education
- Discharge Planning (arrangement of home oxygen and respiratory therapy equipment)
